Welcome to my Playpen -

Like many writers, I write pretty much all of the time, and many of the smaller pieces I don't bother to put forward for publication even though they may please me.

It's only my novels that I write for publication.

My main focus should therefore always be on my next novel and my smaller pieces are intended just as practice works - "études" - where I try out a specific mood or a type of scene that I am finding tricky - or quick character studies to get my writing muscles warmed up (see my private exerciser at plotwriter.com)

Because of the hassle and agony of submitting smaller works, I don't generally submit these studies to magazines. The article is always the wrong length to suit a particular magazine or it isn't the style they want. But sometimes the resulting short stories and fragments please me enough that I want people to read them.

So - what should I do with them?
